Originally I have posted this look last week but due to the optimization process of my website I’ve lost it. For those of you that follow me you will know that I’ve had issues with my website for the couple of weeks. A lot of you may not have gotten a chance to see and/or read this post so, I decided to post it again. Today I’m talking about the Ups and Downs of Blogging while rocking a rad pair of biker boots! It’s been very stressful the last couple of weeks, to say the least. I’ve never encountered any technical issues with my website. Being a full-time publisher — my website is my livelihood. So, it’s a big deal for me when my website is down for a couple of weeks. I’ve tried to stay calm and use this time to read which I did but I just couldn’t shake off my nervousness. When you have deadlines for brands it’s of utter importance to keep and execute them.

Biker Boots_Qupid Shoes_Summer 2016_What Would V Wear_Vanessa Lambert_7

Which brings me to the Ups and Downs of Blogging Full-Time. I know it’s a privilege to blog full-time, the opportunities are endless and the best part is that you can literally work anywhere. I don’t regret that I’ve quit my corporate job at all — in fact, I would say that starting my own business has been one of the best decisions of my life. However, being self-employed is not for everyone. I get a lot of questions on this topic, so, I decided to share some of my experiences with you. First of all, you need to invest in your business which will ultimately be your blog. Secondly, your paychecks will never be the same month to month, nor will they always arrive on time. Often you’ll have to wait a period of 30 days before you can collect your payment(s) for your project(s), and sometimes even longer. The longest I had to wait were more than two months. This being said, when you are self-employed you need to be very smart with your money. You can’t just spend it all the minute you get paid because you’ll never know what the next month brings.

Are you a full-time a blogger, or do you dream of becoming one? Either way let me know by commenting below! I would love to hear from you!

As always, thanks much for reading and for all of your patience during the last couple of weeks!

Much love.

I am so glad to see you again, dear V.! I knew you had some problems with your blog, technical issues, and so I waited, but visited your blog twice to make sure of that – it could be from my side, as well. Really glad to see you back now! I loved your outfit, gorgeous dress and jacket and you look really beautiful! Yes, blogging demands time, patience and investments! It’s a challenge, but a very nice one! Hope you have a beautiful week, and hugs and kisses to you!

You look gorgeous, absolutely in love with how you styled this lace dress! I can imagine that would be SO stressful, but I’m so glad things are up and running again. I don’t think I ever want to blog full-time, but that’s because I love my current career too much 🙂 I’ve had some contracts lately with 60 day pay periods which is crazy, in my opinion. Few industries receive a product and are then allowed to wait two months before providing payment. Sheesh!

I remember reading this post when you first published it and I enjoyed reading it again! I truly love and appreciate your transparency because a lot of people think blogging full time or being an entrepreneur is the easiest thing ever because of all the great benefits that come a long with it, but just like with anything else, it has its notable negatives, too. You look gorgeous, Vanessa, I adore this entire look, such a great fuse of feminine and edge! Thanks so much for sharing, beauty, and I hope you have the most amazing week ahead!

I love the edgy chic look on you, Vanessa!

I can see that being a full-time blogger comes with many advantages but, like every job, also with drawbacks. Having website troubles is always frustrating, and when it’s your full-time job I’m sure there is a whole other level of anxiety & worry…

First, I love this dress and I also glad you re-posted it. I do hope that all the technical issues are now resolved. Second, I really like how you brought up about payments because most people don’t realize that payments to bloggers don’t follow the same schedule. I hope you are now stress free and having a wonderful Monday love!

Trying really hard to become a full-time blogger! I’m a freelance designer, so I work a ‘real’ job on and off which gives me some flexibility to put more time into the blog. But I would absolutely love to do the blog as my ‘real’ job one day!! Working hard to get there 😀

I would love to be a fulltime blogger but I am nervous to make the commitment / making money. I did just work on my blog when my expenses weren’t as much but now I am in my own apartment with adult responsibilities. What would be your biggest advice for making the switch?

Aww, Vanessa, I heard/saw on IG last week you were having site problems and I feel for you. I totally get how your/site and even a computer being down could cause mayhem–I deal with the same issues that you speak of blogging full-time only as working a freelance writer everything is different than a traditional job and varies month to month.
But it’s a learning process, ha ha

This post looks great and I hope you’re back on track!

First, you look amazing! You styled this great like you do everything. I especially love the jacket! As for blogging full time, I’m really thankful that my husband owns his own business and has given me so much to go off of. He described how we get paid as the funnel effect. We put in work ahead of time and it slowly funnels down and out. The biggest and most important thing for me has been to do everything right from the start. I made some mistakes early on as far as my site was concerned, my name, small but significant things that all take time and more money to change. I really wish I would have sat down with someone and gotten more of the “big picture” idea to go off of in the beginning. Thanks for sharing some of your growing pains. It’s always nice to know you’re not the only one going through peeks and valleys when it comes to figuring out how to run your empire!

You really are an inspiration. Both of us currently hold full time jobs aside from the blog because we’re currently not making much income from the blog, but we keep going because we love it. We know that growing a blog will take time and it’s people like you that keep us going. It’s really awesome to see that people really can do this, keep up the work, we’re always waiting to see more from you 🙂

Such a wonderful and uber stylish look Vanessa! You look absolutely amazing my dear! I was thinking of a similar way to transition my summer dress for fall and you inspired me so much! My blog is turning into a full time job lately and it’s good to be reminded that as any free-lance job, we have to be very smart with the way we handle money as each month pay check is very different as you very well said!

Technical problems are stressful enough, let alone the added worry that you’re going to miss out on collaboration deadlines because of them! I’m so sorry you’ve been dealing with them, I can’t even imagine how frustrating a situation that must have been. Your self-employment tips are so helpful! The older I get, the more determined I become about wanting to be self-employed. Hey Vanessa, I can’t imagine how stressful this has been especially given that this is your full-time job and how you make your living. I hope that it is almost all resolved now & it is up and running as normal. I’ve missed your posts and appreciate your honesty about the ups and downs of full-time blogging. I give you so much credit for pursuing it and you are right that it’s not for everyone. As much as I love blogging, the opportunities it brings and the amazing people you meet (like you!) I don’t think I could pursue it on a full-time basis well at least not at this point in my life anyways. You such an amazing and talented style blogger and loving watching you grow, it’s very inspiring!
Now this outfit is so on point really loving the edgier biker boots with the pretty dress. Have a great rest of your week, love ya! xoxo
