How I manage being a full-time mom and blogger

Today’s post is quite personal as I will be sharing how exactly I manage being a full-time mom and publisher. I’ve received quite a few requests on this topic so, I decided to share with you, how I manage to be a full-time mom to King + Jax, and also find the time to publish regularly on my blog and social media. I will be honest with you, it ain’t easy (social media can be very deceiving!) but it’s so worth it, trust me!

The Beginning

I started my blog 3 years ago. I needed an outlet from my corporate job, a hobby so to speak, that didn’t involve my work and/or mom duties. Yes, I could’ve just picked up a Yoga class—but instead I did something way better: I started blogging. Little did I know that 1.5 years later I’d quit my full-time corporate job to purse blogging full-time. It was a tough decision to make since my husband and I are parents but with a leap of faith it actually all worked out! I’ve now been blogging full-time for almost 2 years and I’ve never looked back to my corporate years. Ever.

…and now to the main question:

How do I manage to be a full-time mom and blogger?

First and foremost, if you want to become a successful blogger, i.e. publisher and you are a full-time mama then you need to make time for blogging even if that means that you will need to give up even more sleep! Yes, as mother’s we’re already sleep deprived but believe me, if you are serious about blogging you gotta take every minute to prepare for new content on your blog and social media.

Own a social calendar

Create content in advance, if possible. This helps me tremendously, I swear. Not only am I being super organized this way but it also helps scheduling my time wisely, especially since I work from home. For instance, I own a social calendar that has all of my projects due and publishing dates listed.

…last but not least:

Have fun

Trust me, I have two kids, a 5 year old and an infant so if I can do this—so can YOU!

As always, thanks much for reading and don’t forget to leave a comment below!  If you’re a full-time mom and/or blogger please, share with us how you manage it all!

XOXO,

Thanks for sharing your advice Vanessa on motherhood and blogging. My kids were much older when I started so that helped tremendously. I get a lot of work done in the morning when they are asleep and when they are in school. Soon as they get back in the afternoon, I don’t touch my computer very much because I try to focus on them even though they drive my crazy sometimes. Lol!

I’m actually interning at corporate right now, and I find it EXTREMELY hard to balance work and a blog. The peak time to be engaging with other bloggers is during the day while I’m at work. So, I use my lunch break to catchup with the blog world. I feel like my life is never slowing down. I’m always busy lol

I am not sure I would be able to give up on yet more sleep if I was a mom, so you guys are really an inspiration (and possibly have super powers!) – Love visiting your blog for a feel good vibe and your photos are always so stunning. What tool do you use for your social calendar, if I may ask?
Thanks for sharing your tips, they are clearly working wonders for you!! ♥

These are all such good tips!! Calendars are such a big help! I love queuing things in advance but not more than a few days; otherwise I feel like I’m blogging from the past and writing for the future and that’s no fun.

Honestly you make it look easy babe, but as a full time blogger I know its super hard at times… I am not a mom yet but I will be one day and I will still have my blog and my social media marketing business and yes try juggle it all lol. What I find is the fact that because I do EVERYTHING on my own, when personal family matters arise like divorce or a death or illness I really struggle to focus and lose track of my working and social media routine, That is one thing i have to change, but that also explains why I have been on and off line for a few weeks… I will be doing a Huge life update on my blog soon as I have decided to let my readers know whats been going on because I know I am not the only one going through all of this now..Lots of love mwah xx

Great tips! Blogging full time with two little ones is certainly very, very challenging. All the “behind-the-scenes” work takes so much time…

I hope you are having a great summer!
