Fun Ways to Celebrate Halloween with Kids

Here in the Lambert household, we love any reason to celebrate! Fall is one of my favorite times of year. The crisp air, the changing leaf colors, pumpkin spiced lattes…it all excites me. And let’s face it, I am a big kid at heart too. Being a mom of two little ones nothing makes me happier but to make this whole season festive and fun. Here are some fun ways to celebrate Halloween with your little ones.

Pumpkin Patches

One of our favorite things to do as a family is to visit Pumpkin Patches together. This year we went to Jack’s Pumpkin Pop-Up in the City. Located on over 2 acres in Goose Island this pumpkin patch was real sensory adventure. My boys absolutely loved it there. Check it out here.

Pumpkin Carving

This year our neighborhood gathered together to let the kids carve pumpkins. Kingston, my oldest son, picked the design, drew it on and together with daddy they carved it out nicely. It was a lot fun to watch the kids in our neighborhood bond together over carving pumpkins!

Decorate for Halloween

A few of you might know that I’m very visual and have a keen passion for anything that has to do with decorating. I always say that if it wasn’t for fashion, interior design would be my #1 love. This year I had my boys help me decorate our front yard by setting up straw bales and placing pumpkins everywhere. I like to get my boys involve as much as possible because it’s such great bonding time as well.

Baking Halloween treats

My oldest, Kingston loves to bake. We made it a little “Mom/Kingston” tradition to bake cookies together and share them with our neighbors.

Halloween Costumes

Last but not least, dressing up for Halloween! Jaxson who will be 20 months in just a few days (where’s time gone?!) is officially participating during Halloween. Last year he was so little but this year he is up and running. He’s dressed as a leopard (isn’t it the cutest?!) while Kingston is some soldier from Overwatch. I’m sure you can all guess who I am.

This being said: Whatever you choose to do to celebrate Halloween, just make sure you have fun! Remember it’s about making memories together as a family. It’s not about the fanciest costume or how much candy you’re going to get, it’s about the time spent together. Be a kid at heart and have a fun together! How does your family celebrate Halloween?

These are great ways to celebrate Halloween. I haven’t really celebrated in a few years, but seeing all the fun things that can be done during this time of year, I think I might remedy that next year.

I love that Halloween is kid-friendly in so many different ways. Pumpkin patches are fun! It was nice seeing kids picking out their own pumpkins, hehe. Ooh, decorating is fun! They can be a nice helping hand when it is safe. Thanks for sharing these tips!
