Three years. I can’t believe that three years ago today, I had yet to meet my baby boy Jaxson. And here we are now celebrating my little one’s birthday during the COVID-19 pandemic. Even though we are social-distancing we still wanted to make it special for our little one. In today’s blog post I’m sharing fun ways how to celebrate a kid’s birthday during social distancing. If you would’ve told me three years ago that we would be social distancing during Jaxson’s 3rd birthday I would’ve been in disbelief. While these are strange times, I do have to admit that I’m also cherishing this time with my children. The whole family is home. It’s almost like we are back to “basics”. We need to create fun ways to not only entertain each other but also find new ways to bond and become even stronger as a family. We’re playing board games, have finished a 1500 piece puzzle (at the end it was mommy and daddy’s task but still!) and thinking about fun ways to celebrate Jaxson’s 3rd birthday. His god-parents drove up and left gifts for him and we even got to talk to each other through the screen door (keeping our social distancing!). While it was strange not being able to hug each other, it was still very special. We saw each other and we got to say our “I love you’s” while keeping our social distance.
Ways to Celebrate a Kid’s Birthday During Social Distancing
- Have families from the neighborhood drive by in their cars and honk and/or shout out “Happy Birthday” while passing by
- Have an at-home karaoke contest
- Have an indoor treasure hunt
- Have an indoor camp out
- Bake a cake together and have the kids decorate the cake
- Have an at home pinata smash
