I spent many of my younger years dancing but it wasn’t until recently that I got into ballet. Ballet had always been my childhood dream. When a friend of my mine and I saw “The Nutcracker” ballet performance over the holidays it only strengthened my love for it. It’s such a beautiful art. Ballet has the ability to create an infinite variety of dances. I had thought about taking lessons in my 30s, but never did. And now, I’m embarking on this beautiful journey. I signed up for adult ballet classes.
Some of you may wonder: What’s your end-goal? When I think about it, there is no end-goal (yet), but it’s many things that motivate me to put on those tights and leotards: I enjoy the challenge, I love learning new things and seeing my progress. I do it because it makes me happy! I’m well aware that I won’t become a prima ballerina but it brings me pure happiness to fulfill a childhood dream of mine.
Fitness has become a huge part of life. It’s all about movement. From running, cycling, yoga, strength training and ballet — I’m doing it all with passion and joy. As a mom of two I’ve learned that self-care is important. Take care of yourself and you’ll end up being a better parent. I also hope that my boys will learn that it is NEVER too late to start anything. Age is definitely not a barrier to trying something new and challenge yourself physically. As we get older, we NEED activities that can keep our minds and bodies in tiptop shape. If dance is not your thing, then go seek out activities that you’ll enjoy. You do YOU.
As always, thanks so much for reading and Happy New Year! One of my goals is to write a bit more again. I miss my “blog days” and this amazing community.
