The Responsibility Of Being An Influencer

Svetlaya-Maxi-Dress-What-Would-V-Wear-Vanessa-Lambert

Over the weekend I posted on my Instagram stories what it means to be an influencer. To me, reaching a lot of people comes with a lot of responsibility. I have immensely grown over the past few years and I’ve realized that I am now at a point where I can reach enough people to fill a soccer stadium. It’s a bit frightening because I take my influence quite serious.

Dress by Svitlaya.

It reminded me that I have a responsibility to create a positive impact on the lives of the people who are not only following me on social media but also read my content here at What Would V Wear.

I started What Would V Wear in the Spring of 2014 with the intention to have an online platform that was solely dedicated to my passion for fashion, beauty and travel. Back then I was a corporate working mom who desperately needed an outlet where I could simply be me. I’ve always loved fashion which is why I got a second degree in Fashion Design many years back. When blogging became popular I decided to jump on the bandwagon, too.

And I am glad I did.

I genuinely want to inspire and empower women through my fashion and lifestyle choices. As a working mother of two I hope in both myself and my readers to expose a variety of fashion, motherhood experiences, travels, and real-life stories. But there’s more. I want to help people lead better lives in one aspect or another. Social media can be a numbers game where it’s easy to forget who you are because you become more and more driven by what we think will give us the most attention. Numbers take priority and you lose yourself in the game.

My pledge to you

In my Instagram stories I talked about positivity and kindness. I truly believe in the power of love. I do not want to be known as someone who solely encouraged you to buy something. I hereby pledge to always use my influence to create a positive impact on the lives of my audience.

I will never abuse my influence for anything.

Money. Fame. Power.

Last but not least…Don’t forget to vote. Find your polling place by state HERE.

Being an influencer is a tough business to be in – readers do tend to assume that you’re pushing sales. I know who you are, Vanessa, and you’re real and lovely and kind! Keep up what you’re doing, beautiful xx

True that social media is a number game, but we should not fall in that trap and should be true to our own self and our beliefs..

Thanks for sharing! People often view social media as shallow but if you use it to try and share a message that is important for you and that can help people, then it truly is important. Its all about how you chose to use your social media power!
