I picked up these destroyed denim back in New York City when I visited Fashion Week two years ago. After the show(s) my girlfriends and I decided to go to SOHO for some shopping, and boy (!) did we go crazy! No sales tax got us especially giddy (we are used to paying 9% in Chicago sales tax!). Back then I was on the search for the perfect pair of destroyed denim, and got really lucky when we entered a tiny boutique just outside of SOHO. It really is the perfect staple for spring (I know it is still winter but HEY (!) – we had 43 degrees the last couple of days!) worn with a fun tee or chic top (in my case it’s a peplum top). My favorite way to wear distressed jeans is to combine it with edgy ankle booties, though. It’s ideal for when you want to look cool but not like you’re trying too hard. I added a funky statement necklace and fun vest as well (from NYC also) for even more edge because…Can you ever have enough edge?!

As always, thanks much for visiting & have a fabulous day!

Happy Friday, darlings! It is absolutely freezing in Chicagoland which means I’m fully geared towards sweater weather! But, truth to be told, I don’t want to live in sweaters and jackets all winter long! Hence I found some other ways to keep myself warm. We all know that jackets, sweaters, hoodies, etc. are the most common way to stay warm, next to layering, of course (!) but have you ever thought about ponchos?! They are fantastic and a much trendier alternative! I prefer my poncho big, as in “go big or go home”. Seriously, overwhelmingly over-sized ponchos are everything this winter!

PS: I’m completely make-up free today except for the red lipstick! Yet I wasn’t sure whether or not I should post a make-up free look on the blog. I feel very much vulnerable but at the end of the day I thought: Who cares?! This is me – like it or not. So, dear readers…You’re finally getting a glimpse of me, Vanessa, the girl who loves fashion OH SO much!

As always, thanks so much for reading and have a fabulous weekend!

See you back here on Monday!

Greetings from Winter Wonderland! Snow calls for weatherproofing and bundling up hence my blanket scarf from Boohoo couldn’t have arrived at a better time! I paired it up with a fun skirt + turtleneck sweater and I must admit: I love wearing my scarf as a blanket! It’s genius for us Chicagoans. It’s just so cozy and keeps me me warm when that wind chill kicks in!

Hope your week is going well and you’re staying warm!  Sending you much love and thank you for reading!

PS: A BIG THANK YOU to the Team at Boohoo who gifted me with the Tassel Scarf.

Happy 2015!

“A new year is like a blank book. The pen is in your hands. It is your chance to write a beautiful story for yourself. Happy New Year.”

Animal prints will always be in style—and right now they’re hotter than ever, well, at least in my little fashion world. It’s a timeless classic, wouldn’t you agree? There’s something very sensual and feminine about animal prints, and for this exact reason it has become a color rather than a print to me. So, if you’re hesitating wearing some animal prints, well, think of it as a neutral instead or your new LBD (Little Bold Dress).

As always, thanks so much for reading & HAPPY 2015!

Happy New Year’s Eve! With the beautiful weather we’ve had over the last couple of days I decided to dig out my summer dresses ONE more time before the brutal cold hits Chicago.

Fashion is a lot of fun when you have the freedom to be multifaceted, don’t you agree? I love getting up in the mornings because every day is different and gives you yet another opportunity to try something new…in this case pairing my blush lace dress with burgundy colored tights. Mixing these colors are so fun, and I truly never realized how amazing they actually look together (in my opinion, of course!).

What are your thoughts on this look?! I would love to hear from you!
