Patisserie Coralie, my happy place.

My husband had a special surprise for me two days ago. He found this adorable Parisienne café in Evanston, a suburban city north of downtown Chicago. He knows how much I miss Paris, and its sweet little cafés that aren’t like any other. I love cafés that have character, cafés that aren’t like your average Starbucks. Now don’t get me wrong, anyone who knows me knows how much I love Starbucks coffee, especially on-the-go! But when it comes to actual cafés I’d definitely prefer a nice sit down place that has charm and character, or perhaps a place that reminds me of Europe, to be frank. I miss it. A lot.

Finding Patisserie Coralie was a wonderful surprise from my husband. We all enjoyed macaroons with our coffees while my son sipped on his hot chocolate. We sat there for a while, and I even got to work for a little bit when my son decided to take my husband outside to pick up some monster trucks from a nearby store.

It was the perfect afternoon. There’s nothing I enjoy more than being with loved ones in a café that reminds me very much of home. On a different note: Many of you have asked me about my laptop cover on Instagram. It’s from CaseApp, a company that helps you create your own custom cases, either for your phones and/or laptops. My cover consists of a simplistic marble top cover, and I love it! It’s sleek and chic.

And before I forget…

You may have noticed but What Would V Wear has moved from .net to .com! My website can officially be accessed from www.whatwouldvwear.com instead of .net. It’s a minor change but I’m excited to have .com back!

As always, thanks much for visiting and have a fabulous weekend!

Much love.

Flowers, God’s beautiful creation for us to enjoy.

Life holds many surprises. Have you ever had a bad day and then somehow you received a sweet note from someone? It happened to me a few times, and I cannot help but think that this is a gift from our heavenly father. I do not take it for granted but instead hold it very dear to my heart. I didn’t grow up too religiously but ever since I gave birth to my son I felt the need to become better acquainted with God and build an actual relationship with him.

I’m still learning more about him every day, and I know it will take my entire lifetime here on earth, but I kid you not when I say that he’s the real reason for my happiness. He has given me the best present anyone could wish for: Becoming a mother, and becoming the wife to my very best friend. God truly is good. I have no fears when I’m with him, and I know that I don’t need to be fearful as long as I trust in him.

You might wonder what all of this has to do with the floral skirt I’m wearing, and the answer is simple: These beautiful flowers, printed on my skirt, are my personal reminder that beauty is all around us. So, here I am praising God and all the beauty he created for us.

As always, thanks much for reading & have a wonderful day!

Much love.

Blush Pink for Spring

I often compare myself to a spring flower. A spring flower needs the sun in order to grow, and I need the sun in order to make me feel alive.

We’ve had a fantastic, and sunny weekend. I was dancing on the streets during my photo shoots (check it out here) which resulted in much laughter from my husband. He was like:”What are you doing?”, in which I replied: “Can’t you see? This mama right here is happy!” He smiled, and kept on clicking away with our camera. It was a fast and fun photo shoot. I love days like these. I feel incredibly blessed to do this for a living.

On a different note: I’ve been “blushing” all week long. Blush pink is the color of the season, and I’m quite smitten. It’s such a whimsical and romantic color so, what’s not to love about it?

As always, thanks much for reading & have a fabulous Monday!

What Would V Wear_Casual Outfit_White Blazer_Flared Denim_Bebe

This year, I’m all about mixing classics, like blazers with casual denims. Flared denim have been a favorite of mine for a while and they are by far my favorite “casual outing” ensemble when I’m running errands in the city. This casual chic outfit is perfect. I wore it to lunch with my husband this week, and he even liked this outfit for once. My husband, Jeffrey says that he likes me being “more casual”. I often laugh at him when he says things like that because even though I like being an “off duty” blogger every once in a while – I simply cannot help but enjoy getting dressed for the day. It’s part of who I am. Casual or not.

And with spring being around the corner it’s about time to grab your favorite blazer out of your closet and rock them with your favorite pair of denim! It all started out with a whisper from my husband and here I am: A white blazer thrown on some denim, a roomy bag for some extra shopping, and a hat to keep my head warm + I’m obsessed with fedora hats, to be honest. What I love about this look is that the lines between style and causal get blurred which pretty much screams: Fabulous!

PS: Thank you all for your sweet comments on my Motherhood post. I read them all, and I must say: You really touched my heart. I’m so blessed to have such wonderful friends.

As always, thanks much for reading & have a wonderful day!

Much love.

How Motherhood Changed My Life

Motherhood: All love begins and ends there.

– Robert Browning

Becoming a mother to my son Kingston was by far the best thing that has happened to me. He has given me and my husband so much joy. Our son was definitely a ‘wanted’ child. We planned to have a baby, and now our beloved baby boy is already 4 years old.

And now, ever since I started blogging full-time, I’m able to spend more time with Kingston. He’s growing up so fast – I’m well aware that one day my house will be quiet, my son will be grown, and I will be longing for the chaos. Times truly flies especially when you’re a working mother.

I once heard that if “you’re living in the same house as a baby, time moves slowly” but this certainly wasn’t the case for me. After my maternity leave I went back to work and time was anything but slow. I wanted to push the “pause” button so many times, and this my friends, is the real reason why I wanted to pursue blogging full-time. Not for fame, ego, etc. I wanted to work from home so, I can be with my son. As simple as that. Before I had a full-time corporate job, and my son had to go to a nanny. Even though we had the best nanny any parent could wish for it was very hard on me. There were times were I secretly cried at work because I missed my son.

I feel incredibly blessed to be Kingston’s mother. He’s my soul and heart. Motherhood truly is a gift from above. I’ve learned a lot these last four years but learning the true meaning of unconditional love was probably the most precious lesson I’ve learned and experienced. My love for Kingston has no beginning and no end. Always.
