InStyle Magazine: What Keeps Me Inspired

InStyle Magazine: What Keeps Me Inspired

While I was doing my weekly shopping at Jewel-Osco, I decided to pick up the new InStyle while I was checking out. Sunday’s are meant for some ‘me‘ time and what’s a better way to relax while reading your favorite fashion magazine?!

As a wife, and working mom of soon-to-be 2 boys I cannot stress enough how important it is to find some ‘me‘ time. Most of us know that self-care is essential for happiness. But do we actually take the time to do so? I must admit that I seldom do—but being 9 months pregnant I truly understand the importance of resting now. I get so very tired throughout the day that I simply cannot help but take breaks. And this is what I do now…Every Sunday I carve 2 hrs of ‘me‘ time. We went to Jewel-Osco for some grocery shopping last Sunday, and while we were waiting at the check-out line I noticed the new InStyle issue. Reading one of my favorite fashion magazines while drinking caffeine-free coffee helps me relax tremendously. It’s very much soothing to my body and soul.

And yet we often feel that taking time out for ourselves is selfish. We have been taught that we must work hard to deserve health and happiness. I mean I even put a lot of pressure on myself. I want to be the perfect wife, mother and entrepreneur…but let’s face it: Nobody is perfect, and there’s nothing wrong with the idea to award yourself with some ‘me‘ time every once in a while, in fact, it’s good for you! Whether it’s the latest InStyle, PEOPLE®, Stylewatch® or RealSimple® magazine, go grab yourself a copy at your nearest Jewel-Osco and award yourself! Be inspired, drink your favorite drink or eat your favorite snack, and simply relax! While it may be tempting to spend your free time running errands or catching up on work, commit to spending the time to pamper yourself. You don’t have to spend a lot of time, but it has to be for yourself.

Vanessa Lambert blogger behind What Would V Wear awards herself with some me time reading InStyle Magazine on a Sunday morning_37

You can visit your local participating Safeway, Jewel-Osco, Vons,  Pavilions, Tom Thumb, Randall’s, Shaw’s, Star Market, Carr’s or Acme Market to receive $1 J4U/MyMixx offer on PEOPLE, Instyle, StyleWatch, and Real Simple.

What are you waiting for? Head on over to your local store and grab yourself a copy! You deserve it!

Remember: When you treat yourself well, it will trickle down to everything else in life! Whether it is going to a park to read your favorite magazine or book for a half hour, etc.—it’ll be worth it and it’s a crucial part of living a full life. Carving out time for yourself is vital for keeping yourself healthy, and that means a happier family and more productive work and/or school life.

How about you?! How do you carve out some quality time for yourself? Be sure to let me know by commenting below!

As always, thanks much for reading & have a lovely Wednesday!

XOXO

InStyle is one of my favourite style publications. They’re fantastic. Wishing you lots of rest before you go into labour! I hope you have a very easy labour so you can meet your healthy beautiful boy soon.

I totally agree, Vanessa. Carving out time for yourself is so important, my husband and I were just talking about this the other day! I rarely do anything for myself and that seriously needs to change! I have a copy of InStyle magazine on my dresser, I need to take time and read it this weekend! Thanks for the inspiration and Happy Wednesday!

Great post, I love INSTIL & PEOPLE STYLE magazines, always make sure to subscribe to it, they are so informative and an interesting read. To de-stress and take time for myself, I love soaking in a bath and reading a novel. I haven’t done this in a while so will jump back into it very soon, after midterms. Great post Vanessa, have a great day.

Me time for me starts when hubby go all hands on with my little boy, while they’re having their father and son bonding, I’m getting myself pampered especially during weekends. 🙂
And hey hun, it’s been a while and I’m so glad it won’t be long til your baby #2 arrive, hope you have enough rest and relaxing time.

I love both InStyle and Glamour because they’re not just filled with countless ads, which don’t get me wrong, can be very inspiring, but there’s so much more included that makes for interesting reads, too! I couldn’t agree more, carving out ‘me’ time is so important and goes along with the notion that if you don’t first love yourself, it’s impossible for you to truly love others, because you can’t give what you yourself don’t have. When I have ‘me’ time, I feel more relaxed and less stressed and so the little things don’t bother me as much as opposed to when I neglect that sacred time. My favorite thing to do is read, scroll through Pinterest (aka the rabbit hole, haha) or these days, take a nap, haha. Thanks so much for sharing, beautiful, and I hope you’re having a wonderful week so far!

Dear V., I like InStyle and I like “me-moments” and lately I am not feeling selfish for craving them 🙂 I agree with you, you need some hours to have these “me moments”, since you are pregnant and soon will have Baby J in your arms! Also lately, I am feeling like I need to escape from the daily chores. Soo I loved to read your post showing to me that it’s OK to feel like that and to have a moment for ourselves! Always so great to learn from you, dear V., thank you so much for that! Hope you have a very lovely day and relax a bit, hugs and kisses, dear V.!

I really love this post. I struggle with me time like most people because I want to do it all. However, sometimes my body tells me to slow down. There are other times when i realized i’m not smiling or drain and I have to stop. My me time is setting time out to go for walk, going to a cafe to enjoy a latte, or just relaxing at home. These are just simple things that sometimes only takes a hour out of my day.

Hi V, great post! I always find myself struggling to rest in a world where it seems so important to just gogoogogo all the time! Reading magazines and books is actually one of my favourite ways to unwind and relax. I’ve started reading every day on my commutes to work and I love it! Much better than just trawling through social media all the damn time!

What a beautiful post V! I couldn’t agree more. I don’t why I feel so guilty when I take “me” time. That’s just not right!
It always seems like I have other things to do before dedicating some time for myself! Love this idea!
I think I’d do it the same way as you! Coffee and with an InStyle mag in hand! (maybe also while getting a mani/pedi hahaha)
Thanks for sharing and for keeping me inspired!

    Love your images. So pretty.
a while back I decided to have a me day, but it quickly turned to cleaning and tidying the house day, preparing meals and so many things other than just a me time. I am thinking about leaving this day for the to-do list and have another me day.

I am an advocate of me time. I can’t go without it at least twice a week haha. Especially after a long day at work. I catch up on my shows, vlogs, blogs and watch and film.
