Today’s post is very special to my heart because I am talking about a topic that is very prevalent today: Bullying. Growing up, I was victim of bullying too. I was always different. I grew up in Germany, born to a German father and a Filipino mother. I always had big dreams and worked really hard to achieve my goals.

I was bullied for being a ‘nerd’ at school. Yes, I was the one with the glasses, and the amazing grades in school. Girls were especially mean to me. It even went so far – that at one point – they organized a “hate group” against me. While they did the ‘cool’ stuff, like smoking and drinking alcohol (things I never did), well…, I would prefer staying home, read my novels and be with my family. But I was being bullied for that. Their words and actions HURT me so much but it only made me stronger today. When Vaiana, founder of Le Motto reached out to me, and as I got to know her story, well, it simply brought me back to my own roots. All these nasty words and comments I received hurt immensely which only proves what impact words can have on someone’s life.

Today though is all about spreading P O S I T I V I T Y and L O V E which is what Le Motto’s main purpose is. Sharing a good message to the world, to encourage, and lift one another up. Vaiana says, that “words must be followed by actions”, and I could not agree with her more. Change the world, one WORD at a time. Please, use the discount code ‘whatwouldvwear’ (20% OFF) at checkout on the Le Motto’s website, and help spread the word to end bullying. Also, when you purchase Le Motto apparel, some of their profits actually go to those kids who are suffering from violent circumstances. Their focus is to help fund programs that confront aggression in the form of bullying helping “The Bully Project” that educate over 1 million parents, teachers, kids and entire communities to deal with bullying.

As always, thank you for stopping by & don’t forget to spread some love today!

THANK YOU to LeMotto for sponsoring this post.

Hi V! Its MichelleJScott from Instragram – first of all I love your fashion/pictures and inspiring words — I too – was a victim of bullying in highschool — I actually wrote an article for a Toronto Newspaper that was published – the writer asked me to share my story because I was the only *victim* ( and I use that word lightly) that fought back. I was a nerd in school too — never quite fit in with a *group* just was friends with everyone – but one girl — had it out for me – for months I endured – being pushed into lockers – graffiti about me (that would make you blush) – it was one night at a party – that she singled me out – and wanted to fight with me – it was then that I stood up to her and told her “lets go!” lol — she never responded and turned away from me – maybe the craziness in my eyes ( from the past several months) scared her enough! lol anyways — fast forward about 10 years – I am on a date with my boyfriend ( now husband) we walk into PIzza Pizza and SHE is working there – she served ME pizza with a kinda half smile — poetic justice or Karma — I think so! Have an amazing day beautiful lady!! glad to have found you on instragram!

I love this! Thanks for sharing, posts like these are exactly what we need more of! People taking a stance at doing something to make a change. Look how wonderful of a person you turned out to be despite the mean and hate you were exposed to at such an early age. This really resonates well with my blog and of course I was happy to share it on twitter! 🙂

Hi Vanessa! I didn’t get a chance to comment yesterday, but I wanted to tell you how much this post touched my heart. I was a victim of bullying in high school from both girls/boys because I was very tall and preferred to spend most of my time hiding in the library pouring over books. In a number of ways, I can completely relate to the pain and hurt that you endured. It’s nice to know that there are other people out there who have been through a similar tough experience. I am so glad I found your blog and I adore your style! Thanks for sharing!!! xo, Lauren
