Today I’m getting back to basics in this fierce black ribbed  jersey midi dress. With sleeveless, on-trend high neck and figure flattering midi length, this one is a total wardrobe must have.

While I must admit that wearing a body conscious dress — or “body con” — wasn’t always my first choice when it comes to wearing dresses, I did, however, learn to be more comfortable within my own skin.  This jersey dress is supposed to feel like second skin, made to hug every single curve.  Designed to proudly show off your shape, which over the years, I’ve finally become more comfortable to do just so…showing off my shape without being too revealing.

I often remind myself that “confidence is the best accessory”. Even if you feel a bit shy wearing a figure-hugging dress I recommend getting in one in black. It’s an effortlessly chic hue always on trend, and downright sexy without trying too hard. Also, wearing all black creates a long, lean vertical line, creating the appearance of a slimmer figure.

As always, thanks much for reading & have a fabulous weekend!

Much love.

Hi Vanessa, it does take confidence to wear a figure hugging dress, but I really like how it flatters pretty much all shapes and sizes. you wear it so perfectly beautiful. the high collar neck gives it so much edge!

    Have a great Friday!

I am certainly a bit more reserved with figure hugging dresses, I don’t know why considering I was a ballerina for 15 years wearing skin tight clothing. Once I get back into working out I think I will feel a lot better about myself!

    Happy friday!

    Lots of love… Sydney

I have a few of these basics H&M dress and I just love them. Easy to throw on and they make you look well put together. If I’m ever bloated or had too much cake the night before I just throw on a vest or even a long scarf.

You look absolutely gorgeous in this dress, Vanessa! I know I say this all the time, but you really are beautiful 🙂 I love the way you’ve styled your dress with hat and round sunnies, it adds your signature touch of 70s chic. A body con dress is my go-to when I want to dress up quickly, and I love wearing them with sneakers (I actually think my first or second blog posts was something like that 🙂

We are definitely so connected, dear V.! I tell you why, but first let me say that I loved your dress and that you look lovely and beautiful as usual wearing it! I also loved the sandals and the bag! Now, why we are connected – among other things, because you will seldom see me in a figure hugging dress 🙂 And yet, such a coincidence, I wrote a post yesterday (but for Sept 26) saying the same – that I am not used to wear tight dresses, but as an exception, I wore one last weekend 🙂 If I felt bad? Not really, it surprised me 🙂 So I totally agree with you, dear V., and I can say that you have das Figur um so ein schoenes Kleid zu tragen 🙂 Hugs and kisses!

That’s a lovely dress! And I agree with you, when going for tight, curve-hugging dresses, black is always the best choice.

I really can’t wear figure-hugging anything because of my dry skin; it irritates it. And I’m not too comfortable in showing every curve. I do however like pencil skirts and peplum tops because they accentuate my shape in an elegant way, but not so obviously.
