How To Start A Successful Blog

How To Run A Successful Blog_Self Portrait Dress_Lace Dress_What Would V Wear_Vanessa Lambert

One of the many questions I receive is how I started to become a full-time blogger. While there isn’t a ‘secret formula’ on how to run a successful blog — there is, however, one thing that you need to keep in mind: To be successful, you need to build—and continue to grow—an audience. Continue reading to learn more…

How To Start A Successful Blog_Self Portrait Dress_Lace Dress_What Would V Wear_Vanessa Lambert

As I have mentioned in previous posts I’ve started my blog mainly as an creative outlet. Many want to start a blog because they they think it will make them a lot of money, and while this is true that your blog can become your full-time profession, I recommend not to focus on that matter alone. You need to be passionate about the subject your blog focuses on. I would not be where I am today if I wasn’t 100% passionate about fashion.

Further, you will have a better chance of making your blog successful if you do a lot of research beforehand. You need to be clear which direction you want to take it to. You can either keep it as a hobby, or you can go the business route. Either way, both ways need time to grow, and you need to put in a lot of work. When I started, I made it a mission of mine to create really great content, and since my blog mainly consists of images I made sure that I kept educating myself on photography. My husband and I came a long way, and ’til this day we keep learning. It simply doesn’t stop.

To me, a successful blogger is someone who is not only passionate about blogging but who engages with her/his audience as well. To grow, you need to know who your readers are, and don’t forget: Sometimes real friendships can form which is certainly the best accomplishment.

As always, thanks so much for reading & have a fabulous Memorial Day!

Much love.

    That exactly how I feel
Blogging to me(even though I’m still relatively new) has taught me so much about my self. Specially how to be patient. I hope one day to be able to do it full time and achieve great success with it but I have to say it quiet lonely at times. It a matter of patient and as u said passion over money or popularity. I serious love blogging and I’ve been able to make new connection through it.
I hope to be able to one day meet you too you always Inspire me.

People who want to start blogs solely to make money should change their mindset. I completely agree with you that first you need to have a passion for a topic. Success doesn’t happen overnight. It takes time and a lot of effort.

You look absolutely gorgeous in that dress, Vanessa! I love the crochet details and color of course; I LOVE pink! I think you shared such sound advice. If you do anything just for the money, people can sense that. It’s very easy to sense if someone is not passionate about what they’re doing, in and outside of blogging. Building a community is also very important, like you said, connecting and interacting with your readers is essential. Thanks so much for always sharing and being so open with us, my gorgeous friend, and I hope you’re having a wonderful Memorial Day, sending you LOTS of love!

I loooved your outfit, dear V., colorwise and fabric, so beautiful! A really feminine style, I loved it! You are stunning and so sophisticated, elegant, always! You are so right, dear V., the audience is important and yes, we can build real friendship links – but also, don’t forget, that sometimes the reverse is also true 🙂 It happened to me, both things! Some nasty people, and I thought “my goodness, I am so harmful”! But thankfully positive make it all better! Hugs and regards, dear V.!

Great advice! I think the most important thing to say to people who want to start a blog expecting to get rich and famous is this: chances you will succeed are low, and if you do, it will take several years. If you’re in it to make it a profitable business within 6 months, you will fail. That’s why you can’t do it if you’re not passionate: you need to work countless hours on your blog with zero or very little revenue, and even very little recognition, before you start getting a regular audience.
