I returned from Germany last week and it was a surreal experience this time around. You may or may not know but I’ve lived in the States for over 13 years now. I’ve established a new life in the US but after visiting Germany I felt like I was living a double life. Am I the only expat who feels that way?! I beg to differ.
Home is where your heart is
Words cannot describe how amazing it is to be back home in Germany. My mom and brother still live here so, I try to visit them as often as I can. It’s been a while since my family and I visited them over the summer (the last few years have been in the winter) and what can I tell you?! It’s been the best summer—full of adventures and lots of laughter!
Back Home
When I started What Would V Wear®, I knew I wanted to share my travels with you even though my blog is mainly fashion oriented. To me, there’s nothing better but to have an open mind, absorb new ideas, meet new people to stretch your thoughts. Life is meant to be experienced and discovered. And on this note, coming back home is essential to this traveling experience.
The Trench Coat
It’s trench time, well it was in Germany, not so much in Chicago right now. Nonetheless, I’m a huge fan of the classic trench coat. I could’t get more excited when I spot the first rays of sunshine that announce spring because it means: Take off your winter and grab your trench! The trench coat is the perfect jacket for spring – a closet staple for warmer days ahead.
What I love about the trench is that it’s completely irrelevant what I’m wearing underneath. The trench in itself always looks classy and sophisticated. On a different note: We took these pictures in less than 3 minutes, and I’m not exaggerating. My brother, my son and my husband where on our way to visit a friend of mine in Gelsenkirchen, and as we were driving I noticed this graffiti wall, and I told my brother to stop immediately (typical blogger moment, huh?!). However, as my husband started taking pictures our battery died. So, yes, 3 minutes. Sometimes all you need is 3 minutes.
Have you ever experienced something like this? As always, I would love to hear from you!
Thank you for reading, and as always, much love.

I heart Münster
Yesterday my family and I went to Münster, the city I studied in for a couple of years. Münster is a multi-faceted city. Surrounded by historical architecture, the city is known as the city of science and learning, and being the capital city of bicycles. There are seriously thousands of bicycle riders, most of them students trying to go to one class to another. I was one of them years ago. Walking through the city brought back fun memories from my university days.
It was also very special to show my son my school, and teach him all the wonderful things I’ve learned and experienced while living in Münster. Being here with my family means the world to me but I do look forward to return back to the States. We do miss our three dogs dearly. At the end you’ll always call your home where your heart is. Always.
As always, thanks so much for stopping and have a wonderful weekend.
I Love You all.
