Over the weekend my boys and I headed to the Bahá’í Temple. The temple is located in Winnetka, IL and probably is one of the most breathtaking temples I’ve ever seen. Bahá’í teaches the essential worth of all religions, and the unity and equality of all people. While there I read that “service to humanity is service to God. Let the love of the light of the Kingdom radiate through you until all who look upon you shall be illuminated by its reflection”.
I kept thinking about this quote all day and I came to realize how very true it is. If we could all realize that it is within us to service to humanity and hence to God our world would be perfect, wouldn’t it?! Doing good and helping others fulfills you more than buying a new pair of shoes.
“Baha’is believe that the human spirit lives eternally, and so endeavor to illumine their souls with spiritual attributes—kindness, generosity, integrity, truthfulness, humility and selfless service to others.”
It was an amazing day at the Bahá’í Temple. It felt good to feel the sun (after our little snow storm!) and to to learn more about the Bahá’í faith and teachings. If you’re from the Chicago area I strongly recommend you visit one day!
