I vividly remember my first New York Fashion Week. It was back in 2011 when I was in college studying Fashion Design. It was part of our curriculum attending Fashion Week. My classmates and I had no idea what to expect but I remember our intense excitement.
Nine years and a zillion fashion weeks later, I finally have the whole what to wear to fashion week thing down. Dressing for fashion week should be fun and glamorous—but not at the expense of practicality. These days you literally run from one show to the next. I would love to wear 9 inch heels all day long for 7 days straight but the truth is: I can’t. I had to learn this the hard way. This season I wore knee high boots (with block heels for comfort), tights and a sequined dress for some glam. I always gravitate toward sequins, prints, bold colors and statement items. They get the job done, and they can help you stand out in a crowd of designer duds (if you’re trying to get snapped by street style photographers, and honestly, who isn’t?).

I visited 6 shows. My first two were MUKZIN x HARBIN, followed by Fashion Hong Kong. Later in the afternoon my girls and I attended the Art Hearts Fashion Foundation Fashion Show. As you know, January hasn’t been that a great of a month for me and after my whirlwind trip to New York I feel energized and inspired. I’m ready to take the world by storm again…which means I’ll have some surprises for What Would V Wear in store. Stay tuned!
