Losing yourself is one of the easiest things to do especially when you’re a digital publisher, i.e. blogger. One thing I’ve learned early on is that it is of utter importance not to compare yourself to other bloggers. Whether you’re a blogger, an artist, or a small business owner — we often cannot help but look at someone else’s photo, and think, “Am I enough?” Believe me, I’ve been there as well. Comparison comes natural to all of us, because, the reality is, we are all only human. However, it is unhealthy — nothing good comes out it. I’ve learned that it is far more important to focus on yourself instead, and remember that behind each perfect photograph, is a person too. A person with insecurities, just like you and me.
As the saying goes, “The pie is big enough for everyone to have a slice — which brings me to the importance to supporting one another. There truly isn’t anything more beautiful than women supporting women. Stop comparing and judging each other but instead lift each other up!
What are your thoughts on this topic? As always, I would love to hear from you!

What a great and true post! I’m so grateful to have ‘met’ you (although I really do hope to meet you one day soon) and for your support and inspiration. On that note, you look incredible! I love your cold shoulder and you styled it so perfectly! Have a wonderful weekend ahead!
What a beautiful and honest post. In this day and age of social media, it’s so easy to get caught up and to start comparing ourselves to others. And as you’ve taugh me, not to compare myself to other and instead focus on creating quality content.
I’m so glad we connected. I hope one day we will meet?
By the way you look amazing in your off the shoulder top and white denim.
Have a great weekend beautiful!
Well, I am not going to say much, because I wanted to talk about that on my blog next week! SomI say, great post!?

You couldn’t be more right dear, this is very inspiring and I have compared myself in the and it ended up in jealousy and I said never again. Supporting each other goes a long way. You look dashing and your off-shoulder top is a show stopper!
The off the shoulder trend is my favourite trend at the moment! You are rocking this top Vanessa! Fabulous!
You know how I feel about his from the article I wrote Monday and you nailed it gorgeous…comparison is indeed the thief of joy!! We need to lift others up and love on each other..you are soooo GOOD at this sweet friend!! You inspire us not just with your incredible style (and I LOVE this outfit) but with your words, positivity and genuine amazing heart!! Love you to pieces and may your weekend be everything wonderful!!
I so agree! We have such a wonderful community of bloggers and I think it’s so important to support each other and not compare ourselves to others. Perfectly said, Vanessa! Love the off the shoulder number too! Have a fabulous weekend!
A Blonde’s Moment
Vanessa I really couldn’t agree more, it’s so important for women to support each other and lift each other up!! Wish more people had your amazing attitude! Yes comparing yourself to others especially when you are fashion blogging is so unhealthy but you are right that it’s also hard not to at times so you really have to be mindful of this. This is such a great post my friend, I love and appreciate all of the positive and inspiring messages you share! Love you girl:) Oh and of course you are killing it in this chic off-the-shoulder top, gorgeous!
Love this chic look Vanessa! I couldn’t agree more about comparing yourself to other bloggers. It’s so hard sometimes and when it happens, I try to focus on being grateful. Thank you for being an inspiration and being open to discussing topics like this. Yes, there is enough pie for everyone! XO
“behind each perfect photograph, is a person too. A person with insecurities, just like you and me.” Indeed! , Nice post ! Thank you for this xx
I couldn’t agree more Vanessa! It is so easy to lose yourself and compare yourself to other. The key is feeling confident and believing yourself. Everyone is unique, so why not embrace it! You look gorgeous (as always!) in this outfit and I am seriously obsessing over the top!
what a wonderful post with true and wise words, it’s so important to see the persons behind the blogger’s and not just a random “photo” of anyone being there…And of course support is so important and such a blessing! Without support – from friends, family, other bloggers or just fans) nothing is possible and so it’s important to be grateful and support other’s too <3
On top you just look amazing again my dear friend, love the bold off shoulder top and how amazing it looks on you 🙂 it's such a wonderful spring and summer piece to combine <3 You look so gorgeous wearing this outfit <3
I hope you're having a wonderful start into the new week and enjoy the weekend <3 Hugs and kisses,
Your top is lovely and definitely very trendy. I love the monochrome strap pattern of your blouse. Nice simple pairing with the white jeans and nude heels.
Stunning look doll! I love your top and shoes x
I am a huge proponent for women supporting women! When you really think about it, and this is something I’ve said time and time again — We are all on the same team. Being a woman is difficult in every setting one can think of: socially, economically, culturally.. If we can’t support each other, how can we expect to progress? One thing I particularly love about this online community of ours is the mutual understanding and respect for one another. And of course, getting connected with other strong-minded, independent women!

Great post vanessa ! I think it’s so important to support each other and not compare ourselves to others.
You look incredible! I love your top and you styled it so perfectly!
Have a wonderful weekend ahead!
First off, you look absolutely gorgeous! I love this entire outfit, the striped off the shoulder looks perfect paired with the white skinnies and you already know how much I love you in hats! I couldn’t agree more with all of what you’ve said here. It takes maturity and confidence to put ourselves in continual check when we begin to compare ourselves to others and when jealousy wants to rear its ugly head, but it’s a must because like you’ve said, nothing good comes out of it and there is indeed enough slices of pie or enough glitter in the jar for everyone. I’m one who believes that we all need each other somehow and so it’s wise to make connections and support each other in whatever way possible, creating and encouraging success and opportunities for all of us. Like a body, there are certain parts that have more responsibilities and functions, like the brain and heart. However, have you ever cut your finger or stubbed your toe?! It’s almost as if your whole body begins to depend on that one little part of the body to function, even though it’s not as major as the brain or the heart. I feel the same with all of our gifts and careers, they all intertwine. I greatly appreciate you sharing this topic with us because sometimes, we need a reminder that supporting someone else, doesn’t dampen the chance of our own success. In fact, it can help it! I hope you have the most amazing weekend ahead, my beautiful friend! Sending lots of love and a huge hug your way!
seriously, I am in love with your top! and your ‘true to self” message couldn’t be more spot on! Have a great weekend girl!
So, glad I stumbled across your blog!

You look stunning girl! Beautiful classy as always 🙂 I like it!
Preach, Vanessa! I love the fact that you’re using your online presence to set a great example, and be a role model to all of your followers, and readers. We need more women like that! I’ve seen you grown for the last year, and I’m so proud of what you have accomplished and yet you’re so humbled and down to earth. You’re one of the few followers I really ADMIRE and look up to! You not only have impeccable style (I bought a few things of your site!!) but you have a big heart! xo, Jessica
This is such a wonderful topic V, you are so unique and I cant wait to meet you in the summer… you are so perfect and I really look up to you!! Great look also.. I wore that shirt in a recent shoot!
I was excited for this post as soon as I saw your snap! I couldn’t agree with you more and not even just in the blogging community. Women need to stop comparing in every way. Just strive to be better than we were yesterday! We all have different gifts! Hope you have an amazing weekend!
What a marvellous top on you. Such volume is hard to pull off, but you did it well. It’s never healthy to keep comparing yourself to others, focussing on ourselves is more important and staying positive. <3 /Madison

I love that you wrote this post Vanessa! It’s so true that we are all only human and comparison comes naturally but each of us are on our own unique journey which is what makes it so special. Wishing you a wonderful weekend my friend.

Wise words my friend! It’s so natural to compare, yet it is so detrimental. I love the support I have from other bloggers. You look gorgeous in this outfit! Off the shoulder tops were made for you.
Straight A Style
I totally agree with you that it’s important to stay true to yourself and have your own style and vibe.
There is so many bloggers out there try to become full time influencers and to reach that goal I think no.1 thing for sure is to be the best version of yourself and not compering to others:)
Love your outfit btw, so chic and trendy <3
Love your blouse!

Dear V., again so wise words and so sweet! Yes, that’s something I have always been thinking and sometimes I tell ssome people – we shouldn’t compare ourselves to anybody. If I did, I wouldn’t publish any picture anymore. Mine are not the best, I am chubby, I struggle to have some pics done, and if I compare, then I won’t write a post anymore. We should support each other, that’s true. I know a blogger that I am trying to get away from her, cause she is very competitive and thinks she is the most polite one, this and that, and always writes nasty words. That’s an example of someone I don’t want to be! You look lovely as usual, beautiful striped top and sandals – you are just an angel!
I couldn’t agree more, what a great post! Your top is so chic, beautiful outfit!
I totally agree, this is so wonderful thank you vanessa! Love you lots so glad we have met! Thanks for all your inspo and support!
Great writing and advice dear! I love the whole outfit but the cold shoulder top is fantastic! Gorgeous as always…
Kisses from Mykonos!
What a great post and gorgeous look! First of all I want to thank you for your continuous support and inspiration. The comparison comes naturally to us, just like you said, but as we grow and mature we understand it is just a waist of time. The only person you should compare to is yourself yesterday, right?!
Have a great weekend!
Love this look, especially that choker! Love the juxtaposition of preppy and edgy.
Such a beautiful look ! I love your blouse.
Happy Weekend Vanessa !
Ahhhh!! So in love with this off the shoulder top!! SO gorgeous! Hope you have a great weekend!
First off, you look beautiful and I love your top. I agree with what you said. I find myself comparing a lot but I try to remind myself that “don’t compare your beginning to someone’s middle”

I needed to hear this today!! So many bloggers are just out for themselves, and don’t truly form friendships/relationships unless it will benefit them. I get so sick of it, and I personally think Dallas is the WORST for this. Anyway, definitely good to vent but I agree, we should support one another because what happens when the bloggers you didn’t give the time of day become bigger than you..? 🙂 You have always been so sweet Vanessa, and I know that is why you are growing so rapidly and doing an amazing job!
Great post lady! It’s so easy to lose yourself in this social media world and I love your perspective on this topic! You look gorgeous, as always! Have a great weekend love!
I totally agree! We can compare our self only with our self’s in the past, always aiming for the best)
You look stunning Vanessa, glowing from the inside! Thank you for being such an inspiration!
Love your thoughts on this. I agree wholeheartedly — we are all so unique and different which is what makes the industry really special. We all benefit when we support each other! I was looking at a big Instagram account (blog related) a couple of nights ago and in one of the photos, people were leaving the most cruel comments about the person in the photo. Sooo upsetting… it’s like people forget that there’s a real person with feelings and a heart.
Anyway, those are my thoughts 🙂 Thank you for sharing, as always. You’re wonderful!
Great thoughts! But how hard it is to learn this. This is called confidence in your strength. Love your style!
I saw this look on Instagram +I read your caption…and I knew i had to stop by and read. You are seriously such an inspiration, and such a great role model too! Not many bloggers share positive messages — you’re very refreshing in that regard! I’m a new follower of yours but I’m already such a fan! Your style is unique and your voice even more!
xoxo, Kim from Canada
Dear delight <3 You look great 🙂
This is so inspirational, I realized this year that by being myself life went so much better rather than when I had all that pressure to be perfect.
Have a nice day girl!

This is a topic I’ve always felt very strongly about. There’s so much competition going on that often, we lose sight of why we’re in the game to begin with. And I’ll be honest. It took a long time for me to personally get over those feelings of envy towards the pretty young things for whom success appeared to come so easily. It’s still very much a work-in-progress but at least these days, I don’t make comparisons with anyone but myself anymore. I’m going with the mentality that it’s me versus me. How I can be better next week, compared to how I was last week. Thank you, babe, for sharing this. Sometimes, it gets overwhelming when you think you’re the only one having doubts and insecurities 🙂 xoxoxo
I know what you mean, babe, comparison is sometimes a good thing and some others a bad one, but it’s part of our living…
you look extremely chic, great off shoulder top
I love the off the shoulder and those white jeans with it!
Looking fabulous!! And a great post, I really enjoyed the read!
You always kill it! Another amazing look 🙂

I really love this look on you!
And, yes, not comparing yourself to others is so important, yet sometimes so hard to do, especially when you blog and read blogs regularly… As I’m getting older, I find I’m letting go of the comparing more and more, but I know I still do it to some degree…
And women supporting other women truly is one of the best things in life. I remember a popular blogger from when I started blogging seven years ago that always said that “the internet is big enough for all of us” and that we should all support each other. Not everyone believed her then and not everyone believes it now, which is truly too bad… Thanks for what you do to make it a better place!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Love this! i have always felt the same that there is room enough for everyone and lets cheer each other on! you are so cute and love your perspective! very chic look!
I love this clothes.
This is so true… And yet it can be very hard not to compare ourselves to others, especially in this age of social media where we see so many other people who appear incredibly successful.
Wonderful message! It is so easy to compare yourself to others with so many blogs other there. There is room enough for everyone, and it would be boring if we were all the same. And you always stand out, Vanessa, with your gorgeous looks! This top is stunning!
Soo Pretty Outfit and Words:)
Love your Way of Thinkig about this Subject:)
I totally Agree with you:)

Oh how I love this post… your words and the ootd! Seriously, though, comparing yourself to others is hard not to do but life is always so much better when I choose not to do that. About that top… I’m in love. And the choker… you can seriously pull anything off!

This post was amazing to read. I definitely agree- my biggest downfall is comparing to others. As a small blogger, I often get down and wonder if what I’m doing is even worth it, but it’s important for me to remember why I got into blogging in the first place, and that’s for a creative outlet that’s FUN. And of course, the people I’ve gotten to connect with along the way make it all worth it. (you’re one of them!)
I always enjoy reading your posts, and this one came at just the right time.

You look awesome
That top is genius, so good! Xx
The off the shoulder top is absolutely stunning! Love it x
What a lovely post and you look absolutely stunning in that outfit. I’m a true believer that comparison is a thief of joy. There are many moments when I start doubting in myself but I try to remember that i’m unique in my own way.
This was an awesome post and one I really needed to read, thank you <3
Well put! I firmly believe that women should be lifting each other up, not just in the blogging game – but in all aspects of business and life in general. With more women like you – the world will be a better place. Lovely post. And on a sidenote – love your outfit 😉
